Initial Steps

This is the very beginning to your audition journey, pretty much from the moment you know you'll be auditioning. It covers how to choose which schools to apply to, the research needed on said schools, and the application process itself.

Immersing Yourself

Here are a few places online to watch theatre from home!

Digital Theatre

National Theatre

Broadway HD

Marquee tv

BBC iplayer

A few of these require a subscription, or a one-off rent for 48 hrs, but if you can it's always going to be worth it

International Students

There's no doubt that if you're hoping to come to the UK for training, it's even more challenging for you. This is for multiple reasons, including - but unfortunately not limited to - the fact that course fees are crazily higher.

Though I have not gone through the process of being an international student personally, and therefore am limited in my advice to you, I have tried to find as many resources to help you as possible. From where to start to funding and eligibility, hopefully these can help you out a bit! And as always, do not hesitate to ask me anything else you may be wandering about.

Whilst I hope you can take the other sections in this course and apply them to yourself, this section is specifically for you:

UCAS - International Students - Probably a good place to start, many courses even for drama schools will go through UCAS, so although much of what UCAS says may be more tailored to 'normal' university courses, it will still be important to familiarise yourself with it all.

UCAS - what finance options are available if I want study

UK CISA - The UK Council for International Student Affairs (Another place with some helpful information and contacts)

UK CISA - UK student finance scholarships and other funding

UK CISA - England HE fee status

NOTE: You do not need to be a UK student to receive a student home fee (a capped UK-based fee for undergrad courses) however, you must check to see if you are eligible, as the criteria is pretty specific if you are an international student.

UK CISA - england he who pays home fees - pdf - For if you want to check if you are eligible to pay β€˜home fees’ for studying in the UK i.e. the rates a UK residing person would pay

Study UK british council -Scholarships Funding - A way to find courses, as well as to find some possible scholarships

Mountview - International Students - Schools should have an 'International Students' page for more details on their course and audition process for you, but I am including one schools page on it as they talk about visas and other helpful information that you can use.

Chichester University - International Scholarships - There are a few scholarship options here that could be beneficial for those of you applying to this school from overseas. Check each scholarship carefully for requirements and details, as some are only for your first year for example.
